Welcome
to 2010
Hi from the team
We shall continue to deliver the fun and frolics that is The Pit every
Saturday with welcome silly things on the door (not the staff). Respond to your
request, which you can email via the Facebook site,
fill in a form at the door, text on the night or simply pop up and talk to the
DJs.
A select guest set of rock DJs will be popping in some weeks to play
along side Nick.
If it is YOUR or a friends birthday, we will be very happy to help you
celebrate, with free entry for the birthday person and special entry for listed
guests, also get a special Pit drink made for you and presented in the only way
we know how… with a bit of fun.
On the planning zone we are also looking at celebrating some special
times in 2009
Confirmed so far are -
Mid Summer Nights Dreams
Quiz Night
Pitnick in the Park
Mad Hatters Rock Party
A Classic Rock Night
Halloween
New Years Eve
More to come, so visit here regularly to keep up to date.

Entry
Price Alteration
Saturday 8th November 08 – onwards
Ever since our days at
the Black Horse we have managed to keep the entry price the same, and keep
delivering what we hope is good value for your pennies. Not just the great rock
music, but a safe place to be in, little gifts on your arrival, pleasant
surprises for birthday folks (well no one has complained yet) and the ever
developing lighting and effects show. However in these days of merry cost
increases and jolly government controls, we have now found we need to slightly
adjust the entry prices to make everything balance and put us in positive
position for future fun.
So from the 8th
November 2008 the standard entry prices are –
Non Members
9pm to 11pm - £4 each
11pm to close - £5 each
Members & students
(with ID)
9pm to close - £3 each

Inside The Pit goes smoke free
The law is being introduced to protect employees
and the public from the harmful effects of second hand smoke. This means it
will be against the law to smoke in virtually all enclosed public places,
workplaces as well as public and work vehicles. This law applies to anything
that can be smoked, which includes cigarettes, pipes of all types, cigars and
herbal cigarettes.
Local councils are responsible for enforcing the law,
and their staff will be visiting sites to ensure that the law is being
enforced.
Failure to comply with the law is a criminal
offence, penalties and fines for smoking offences are as follows.
Individuals found smoking by local authority staff
in smoke free areas – a fixed penalty notice of £50 (or a maximum fine of £200
if prosecuted and convicted by a court) {there are discounts with these
charges, please visit www.smokefreeengland.co.uk for more information}
Since The Pit is held in a public venue, the owners
of the site and Redline as promoters of The Pit are legally responsible to
prevent people from smoking within The Duke of Cambridge. This therefore means
that smoking is not permitted within the
enclosed rooms of The Pit. However, we are fortunate enough to have a beer
garden, accessible via the door by the pool table area and smoking is permitted
in the beer garden during the evening. We request that you ensure that the door
to the garden is closed after you and that you do not re-enter the venue rooms
before extinguishing anything you are smoking.
The staff at The Pit / Duke of
Cambridge are required to prevent smoking in smoke free places, fines
can be imposed on us if we fail to do this.
Persons found smoking within the enclosed rooms of
The Pit (not the beer garden)
-
will be advised that they are smoking in a non smoking
area and asked to stop or move immediately to the garden area if they wish to
continue.
-
If someone ignores the
advice given, it will be pointed out to them that they are committing a
criminal offence by smoking in a smoke free area.
-
Smokers will be
reminded that under the law, Pit / DoC staff have a
responsibility to prevent smoking and that both the smoker and the staff could
both receive a fine.
-
Smokers,
that fail to follow the advice given will
be informed that they will no longer be served and shall be requested to leave
the premesis.
The management of the Duke of Cambridge and Redline
Productions Ltd as promoters are required to comply with the laws of the UK and
trust that all visitors to The Pit will assist us in meeting these
requirements.
For further information on the law and regulations
we recommend you visit www.smokefreeengland.co.uk

The
Pit is essentially west
What
continues to please us is that we have secured a regular venue base, which
itself is steeped in rock history, in that that this was the very first venue
in the UK that a newly arrived and fresh faced Jimi Hendrix played, having just
stepped off a plane in Heathrow. So the brand new venue for the Pit is The Duke of Cambridge in
Hounslow.
The full
address is
The
venue is at the back of the huge Hounslow bus garage / station, a centre for
almost all the day and night buses for the greater area and just a few minutes
saunter up the road from Hounslow East Underground station on the Piccadilly
line to Heathrow, which makes it probably the best ever public transport
connected venue we have ever been in.
For
those coming to by car, there are two public car parks across the road, both
monitored with CCTV, also straight across the road are a licensed cab company
and a late night takeaway food shop and there is secure bike parking at the
back of the venue, as well as limited parking at the front. We think we have
catered for a lot of everyone’s needs.... did I mention the beer garden, video
screens, pool table and “Pit Art”© ?
Redline
Productions Ltd, teamed up with the present venue
owners during the purchase and worked with them in completing a number of
changes to the layout of the venue which all took place “just” before opening
night of the 8th April 2006.
Building
on the Pit's extraordinary legacy of delivering a safe, fun, rock show
reflecting all manner of rock styles in the Red Lion in Brentford, John Bull in
Chiswick and The Black Horse in Richmond, the Redline team continue to join
together with the wistful ghost of James Marshall Hendrix and yourself in
creating a blinding regular Saturday night suburban rock club.
